Direct and Accelerated Access
You must be the holder of a UK driving licence which has two parts:
- Photo card
- Paper counterpart
(unless you have a old style paper licence).
If you hold an EU licence you must apply for a UK driver number
After successfully completing a Compulsory Basic Training course (CBT), within 2 years you must pass: a motorcycle theory test 2 practical tests - modular 1 and modular 2
Riders who reach 21 within the 2 year restricted period of (25kw machines maximum) can ride a larger bike if they pass further tests on a motorcycle of at least 35kw. You can practise on bikes over 25kw as long as:
- You are accompanied by an approved instructor
- You have radio contact with the instructor
- You wear fluorescent or reflective clothing
- You follow all other provisional licence restrictions
You will revert to learner status while practising on a motorcycle larger than 25kw although test failure will not affect your existing licence.
